Erio-SO

Erio-SO is a simple screen over-writing program of particular use in audience presentations and demonstrations.

Warning!
Appreciate that because Erio-SO needs to 'mess about' with the screen display, it may not work properly in certain situations. On the whole it should not present a problem with static displays that do not automatically refresh the screen.

Registration

A contribution for registering this program would be appreciated.

Even if you do not wish to register the program, I would welcome some feedback on its usefulness after you have been using it for a while.

Registration offers a few extra facilities and registered users may also suggest additional features for incorporation in the program.

To register, fill in the form indicating the program of interest and your name/organisation.

If you are likely to need support please also supply your telephone number and a none-disposable e-mail address.

None of the information you supply will be used except to confirm registration or to answer specific enquiries. The information will not be passed on to anybody else. Any records held by me will be encrypted.

Installation

Erio-SO is very simple to use. However it must be installed properly so that it is accessible after the information to be marked has been launched.

Unzip the download specifying a folder C:\Erio. Any programs from Erio Services can co-exist within the same folder.

The download will unzip to two files. There are no other files associated with the program.

Create a short-cut to ErioSO.exe on your desktop. Drag the short-cut to the Toolbar so that Erio-SO is available after you launch the program you will be highlighting.

To uninstall simply delete the ErioSO.exe and ErioSO.ovl files and any desktop shortcuts you may have created.

Problems

If Erio-CK does not run, please see the note in the Software page regarding run-time modules.

Instructions

There are no instructions included in the download.

Once Erio-SO is launched, dragging the mouse with the left button depressed will mark the screen until the left button is released.

Having completed an operation, right-click in order to activate a box that will let you select different colours and line thicknesses.

The blank box simply clears all marks and the 'X' box shuts down the program.

Registered users will also have access to the following functions:-

F - This function will draw a filled box using the diagonals that have been defined during a left-button drag. If the selected colour is black, the box will be opaque. White has no effect. All other colours are translucent so that any information in the underlying page can still be seen.

R - This function will draw a rectangle using the diagonals that have been defined during a left-button drag. Line thickness can be pre-selected.

Tx - This function writes characters to the screen. It will allow backspace corrections. Character size can be pre-selected. Some practise may be required! The cursor position specifies the top leftmost corner of the text. It is thus very easy to accidentally write outside the screen area, especially in the larger character sizes!

Blnk - This is a simple 'blackboard' function. Pre-select the background colour you want to use. The background colour is slightly darker than the writing colour thus you can write say, red on red.
All the above functions can be applied. However note that filled box results may not be what is expected with any colour other than black!
